Vision and Generosity
The Rosine Smith Sammons Butterfly House and Insectarium is funded by the Rosine Foundation Fund of Communities Foundation of Texas. Through the vision and generosity of Sammons' daughter, Mary Anne Cree, a three million dollar lead gift was made in honor of her mother's love of butterflies and nature.
The Butterfly House and Insectarium is the keystone of The Metamorphosis Capital Campaign at Texas Discovery Gardens. With an updated total goal of $13 million, The Metamorphosis is providing funds to greatly expand and enhance the lively, interactive programs offered for children and adults at Texas Discovery Gardens.
The revitalization continues...
Texas Discovery Gardens is proud to announce the revitalization of the Metamorphosis Capital Campaign, which was created to raise money for the renovation of the conservatory. The City of Dallas has showed its support for the campaign by awarding $4.7 million in bond funds to the project, which has enabled construction to resume in April 2008!
So far, a fantastic $10.2 million has been raised, but an additional $2.8 million is needed to complete the project. Once construction finishes, the Gardens will have a year round Butterfly House and Insectarium, a Discovery Gallery and a new EarthKeepers® Children’s classroom!
Be a part of this exciting project!
Individuals, foundations, businesses, corporations, social organizations and civic groups are invited to be part of The Metamorphosis. Capital campaign gifts may be in the form of cash; pledges over a three- to five-year period; securities; bequests and other planned gifts. All contributions will be appropriately acknowledged, unless anonymity is requested.
