If you think that making a difference in the lives of local
children is important, then we've got a great opportunity
for you! Texas Discovery Gardens has developed a wide range
of environmental education programs that help preK-8th grade
students understand and appreciate the intricate and
fascinating web of life that is known as a garden.
As an Earthkeepers® Docent you will be introducing children
to the unique interrelationships of plants, insects, and
other creatures in nature. Each age specific program
includes an interactive tour of the Gardens and a wide
variety of hands-on activities such as building a terrarium,
planting seeds, measuring garden beds, and observing insect
behavior. Programs last approximately an hour and are
offered Monday through Saturday 10am to 5pm.
New Docents will receive written curriculum, attend an
orientation session, and shadow experienced Docents and
Staff before leading tours themselves.
Our education department works with local public and private
schools, scouts, family groups, neighborhood play groups,
science clubs, and other children's groups.
Scout/After-School Programs and Birthday Parties are another
way to work with children in a relaxed, less structured
manner.
